checking back in pretty early to get myself fully into the rhythm, but also because i have been doing a lot of instrumental work on the first few tracks that i have fully written for the album:

• "Lovebursts"
• "Pressin"
• "Portal of Glass"
i picked out all my themes/topics prior to any lyrics to help me not freewrite aimlessly yet–with all of the time that i am allowing myself to take with Ultrathaw i think that this approach will be a really interesting and rewarding songwriting venture. i cannot wait to see how all my upcoming life changes will affect these songs in either major or minor ways.
while i adore "Lovebursts" right now (eventually i will succumb to reel-making and share some snippets), "Portal of Glass" sticks out to me in so many ways. you will get to hear the lyrics one day but what can be shared is that it is a crowdsourcing project amongst mutuals and creators. getting to utilize fully unique samples from all sorts of unique individuals has been such a special experience and collagist products actually work quite well within a trip-hop vibe. also, i just think it's nice to have the internet deliver something so promising in 2026; lots of childlike e-wonder has been felt, definitely.
finally getting around to watching more movies or shows by myself, i cannot thank james K enough for putting me on to Serial Experiments Lain. also, shoutout Bôa.

song rec • “july 5th” by L'Rain
howdy all!
i have begun the writing process for my second album and some eagle-eyed mutuals have probably already noticed small visual changes on my profiles. to say that i am energized is an understatement, but i am gonna really allow myself to take time. while i have maintained a pretty indifferent attitude towards perception and “professionalism” on my last two projects i currently feel a lot more confident in the idea of allowing myself to be a little bit of a perfectionist on this next project. to put it more simply, i have recently been working towards music that doesn’t just act as merely a personal expression but also music that i actually want to listen to in my day-to-day life. who knows? a lot could change in a couple years but i think that it’s something i can accomplish with enough dedication and patience.
in November, i will be moving back to my birth country of the United States of America. while i am very eager for said move to come sooner i have been taking advantage of, as Immi says, the seemingly “endless in-between.” it will be interesting to see the ways that my creative approaches change when life gets busier though i am not too worried about any of them being extreme; if anything, i will become way more intentional with my priorities. collaboration excites me right now especially when my only real experiences with it have been through the internet, we shall see what Grand Rapids has reserved for me. outside of pondering these questions my hours have been spent the same way they have been for a while now: sleeping lots, getting documents in order, listening to new music almost every day, working out, watching videos, preemptive job hunting, occasionally playing some Mario Kart Wii, and of course partaking in the writing process of my new album as i mentioned in the intro. the ultrathaw begins.
it feels good to write my first blog entry, i should have no issues with doing this regularly.
